"Access all areas" Optional Tour - The O2
1 November 2007 - Day 3
The O2 – a 23,000-seat enclosed arena, ringed by an entertainment district enclosed in the former Dome structure in Greenwich.
Utilising the structure of the former Millennium Dome, AEG Europe is investing over €1.0bn to create Europe’s pre-eminent entertainment destination. Alongside a 23,000-seat enclosed arena with 100 private suites, The O2 incorporates over 30 bars and restaurants, numerous shops, an 11-screen cineplex, an exhibition space and a 2,350-capacity live music venue: The Indigo Club.
|
The venue opens in June 2007 with a series of concerts by artists including Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, Scissor Sisters, The Rolling Stones and guest sports events such as NHL hockey and NBA basketball.
AEG Europe is now under way with its second pleasure dome – The O2 World arena in Berlin, scheduled to open in 2008/9.
Your optional visit includes a mini-conference presentation from the development team behind The O2, with a guided behind-the-scenes tour and light lunch to bring Auditoria & Performing Arts Centres Executive Summit 2007 to a close.

“Part of my role must be to take advantage of our fantastic location between the London Eye and Tate Modern – the two key visitor attractions on the south side of the Thames. Our projection three years ago was that we would have 12-15 million visitors passing through the site by 2008-9. It’s already 15 million!”
Southbank Centre’s CEO Michael Lynch. |
