The Venue

The Palau de la Música of Barcelona, located in the centre of Barcelona, is currently celebrating its 100th year. The Palau de la Música of Barcelona – a unique modernist concert hall – was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997 and hosts a wide range variety of activities, including over 359 concerts of all genres, 150 business and social events, more than 3,500 architectural tours. Every year 700,000 people enjoy the stunning venue that is the Palau de la Música of Barcelona.

The venue has undergone a major refurbishment and extension in recent years, including the creation of a large outdoor square for public use (the Plaça del Palau) and the addition of the El Petit Palau – a modern, flexible auditorium with 538 seats – built underneath the original building. With its comprehensive technical and translation facilities, El Petit Palau – pictured – is the ideal conference room for the 2009 industry meeting.

"The summit has been absolutely fantastic - it's very good for us to meet with other people, to see what they are doing, to talk about their successes and to learn from their mistakes. The networking has also been superb and I just hope now you will consider holding the summit in our new conference centre in Reykjavik, Iceland when it opens in 5 years!"
Thorhallur Vilhjalmsson, Marketing/PR Manager, The Icelandic National Concert and Conference Centre
"I found the whole of AES to be exceptionally useful - coming from Australia, it's a big effort to have to come all this distance, but as far as this conference is concerned, it was definitely worth it. The visit to the O2 was particularly inspirational to see what can be done with this sort of facility and to discover so many similarities on the financial and technical side has been a real eye opener for me."
Rodney Phillips, General Manager, His Majesty's Theatre, Perth, Australia
